THE CURRENT SHOW One Tooth Fellow

“I was born in Brussels in the late 1980s and I am currently studying silkscreen printing at the Academie Royale des Beaux-Arts.

My father has been running his own bookshop for years so I grew up in a world of books and pictures. I was very young when I started drawing and, as a child, monsters were my favourite subject.

I am inspired by the music of the 1960s as well as films, pictures, graphic posters and vinyl records. Tribal art – especially pre-Columbian, American Indian and Pacific – interests me enormously. I like legends, beliefs and all that magic-tinged madness, in a word: shamanism.

I draw both from right to left and left to right as if composing a collage. I've always been fascinated by line drawing, with its wonderful variation in texture and rhythm. Working with a nib directly on paper means that accidental lines inspire spontaneity and improvisation in my work.”
